A new exhibition will be on view at Villa11 from September 15. The exhibition entitled L'chaim promises to be a special event: Nóra Soós and Márton Győri , defining creators of contemporary Hungarian fine art, also known and recognized as an artist-couple, will be presenting their works together in our building for the first time. The exhibition is not only a meeting of two different, yet mutually resonant, artistic worlds, but also a kind of joint celebration – as the Hebrew word "L'chaim" indicates: "for life" .
Nóra Soós's paintings reveal colorful, dreamlike, multi-layered worlds where figurative and abstract elements playfully blend. Her works are both personal and universal, often addressing issues of identity, social roles, and cultural memory.
Márton Győri's art is dominated by expressive gestures and the use of materials: his images are saturated with emotional intensity, yet carry philosophical depth. His works often reflect on the borderlands of existence, the fragility of human conditions.
Their joint exhibition, L'chaim, is not only about the dialogue of two individual voices, but also about the visual representation of the fabric of their shared life and work. The exhibition offers a glimpse into the interaction between two powerful artistic visions, and how painting can become both a personal confession and a communal experience.
The Representative Body of the 2nd District Municipality of Budapest – based on the proposal of the citizens – awarded the 2nd DISTRICT MEMORIAL MEDAL to the painter couple.
Nóra Soós and Márton Győri are painters who live with deep respect and in complete harmony, but create in two separate worlds, and both have developed individual visions:
In her work, Nóra reflects on public life, constantly monitors phenomena taking place in society, and is interested in the themes of feminism, femininity, and motherhood, but homelessness, environmental destruction, and the refugee issue also appear in her paintings.
Márton, the self-proclaimed modernist artist, is often inspired by his immediate surroundings, the landscape of Pasarét, but poems, literary works, philosophical thoughts and his Jewish roots are equally important and inspiring for him.
The local-patriotic artist couple consciously chose Pasarét as their home, where they found the right location and atmosphere for their work, and where "home does not end at the front door."
Both were born in 1979 and graduated from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 2004. Since then, they have been exclusively engaged in painting. They have participated in numerous individual and group exhibitions. They have two children.
