On June 19, we invite you to a special film club evening at Villa11, where we will watch together one of the Hungarian film sensations of autumn 2025, the charming comedy Passionate Women. After the screening, we will continue the evening with an informal discussion together with the director, exploring the questions and perspectives raised by the film.

The story follows three generations of women whose different life experiences – and seemingly very different personalities – lead them to think about relationships, commitment, freedom, life and death in completely different ways. These universal human feelings and dilemmas transcend time and place, and the film explores them from multiple perspectives while maintaining a humorous tone throughout. Although the film focuses on women, it ultimately speaks to all of us – both women and men.

The film is directed by Gábor Herendi, a Balázs Béla Award–winning Hungarian film director, producer and screenwriter, and one of the most successful filmmakers of post-transition Hungarian cinema. He began his career as a creative director at advertising agencies, and in the early 1990s founded his own production company, where he has since worked as a leading director and producer. He has directed more than 400 television commercials in Hungary and abroad. His name is associated with several well-known and highly successful films, including the A Kind of America trilogy, Hungarian Vagabond, Kincsem, Gone Running (2024), and his latest film Passionate Women, released in November 2025.
